Free Lockport Clinic On Overuse Injuries Will "Hit Home" For Youth Ballplayers
LOCKPORT, Ill., June 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Calling all young baseball and softball players! A study in The American Journal of Sports Medicine shows most throwing athletes report arm pain and fatigue related to play. According to world-renowned Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush physician Anthony Romeo, M.D., shoulder and elbow injuries among young athletes are rapidly increasing.
Dr. Romeo will address the rise in overuse injuries, why they are occurring and how to prevent and treat them during a free clinic on Monday, June 19, 7 p.m., at Bo Jackson's Elite Sports (BJES), 17130 Prime Blvd., Lockport, IL. The clinic is open to throwing athletes, parents, and coaches. Dr. Romeo, team physician for the Chicago White Sox, will be joined by Athletico physical therapist John Bakouris, who will address how to keep young players' shoulders and elbows injury-free. The event will offer valuable insight and a worthwhile opportunity to help young athletes stay in the game longer.
Seating is limited and spots will be reserved on a first come, first-served basis. Light refreshments will be provided. To register, please visit: www.RushOrtho.com/events/BJES.
