Freed Maxick & Battaglia, CPAs, PC Completes PCAOB Inspection
BUFFALO, N.Y., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Freed Maxick & Battaglia is pleased to announce the completion of its PCAOB inspection with no audit performance issues, its second clean opinion in the last four years. In 2002 the federal government altered the accounting profession by creating, for the first time, a federal regulatory agency for this profession, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). This agency was created in response to the massive corporate failures of companies such as Enron. The PCAOB is a private sector, nonprofit corporation, created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, to oversee the auditors of public companies in order to protect the interests of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair and independent audit reports. In late May, Freed Maxick received notice of a successful completion of the inspection.
"We are proud to have taken part in the PCAOB's inspection achieving the quality control objectives to the PCAOB's satisfaction. Freed Maxick & Battaglia offers the quality service expected from a local firm, combined with national and international resources to help businesses grow. The accessibility of our directors and responsiveness to client needs is our commitment and we offer years of experience serving entrepreneurs in private and public companies," said Tim McPoland, Director, Freed Maxick & Battaglia, CPAs, PC.
Freed Maxick & Battaglia has built a respected and successful SEC practice based on years of experience auditing public companies in New York State that have a wide variety of public and private capital transactions.
Freed Maxick's SEC professionals are members of key professional organizations. As a result, the firm has good relationships with the SEC, the FASB and other rule-making bodies. Freed Maxick is a member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), which qualifies the firm to provide attest services to public companies. In addition, the firm is a member of the Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) which is affiliated with the AICPA and is an autonomous public policy organization dedicated to enhancing investor confidence and public trust in the global capital markets by fostering high quality performance by public company auditors.
