SAN FRANCISCO and LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Telespree Communications today announced that it was selected as the preferred provider of real-time data services for its 3G/4G LTE smartphones and data devices for FreedomPop, America's new free Internet company. FreedomPop will use Telespree's real-time metering capabilities to ensure that its users will receive all of the value they expect from the nation's first 100% Free High Speed Wireless Internet provider.
Using Telespree's Active Session Monitoring Service, FreedomPop controls access to VoIP and data on its recently launched FreedomPop Phone to provide an enhanced, tailored user experience. Telespree monitors and distinguishes data usage – both the VoIP data stream as well as general data – to enable FreedomPop to offer different voice calling, data plans and upgrade options to customers. In real-time, subscriber sessions can then be redirected to welcome screens, plan pages, advertising partner destinations or social media outlets as needed to deliver on FreedomPop's requirements. In the future, Telespree's capabilities will support FreedomPop as it adds additional devices, offers and promotions, and explores new ways for its users to earn free Internet service.
"We're very happy to have selected Telespree to support our business," says Stephen Stokols, FreedomPop's CEO. "As we continue to bring new services to our customers, we need strong, but flexible technology capabilities. Telespree's ability to not only monitor but also differentiate between data usage types, including VoIP, is important in enhancing our users' experience."
"FreedomPop's disruptive business model is a great example of innovation in our industry, and Telespree's technology and services were purpose-built to provide the flexibility and scalability that such a business requires," says Ellen Schwab, Telespree's CEO. "We are pleased to provide our real-time services to FreedomPop, and look forward to supporting their business as it grows."
The FreedomPop Phone and its free mobile phone service come a year after the company launched free 4G over mobile hotspots. FreedomPop also recently announced its first device, FreedomSpot 5580 LTE mobile hotspot, to run on Sprint's expanded nationwide LTE network, and plans to introduce several other devices on Sprint's LTE network in the coming months.
FreedomPop provides disruptive mobile services so that no one is left off the "connected grid." Founded in 2011, FreedomPop is rewriting the rules of the American telecoms industry and is backed by Mangrove Capital, DCM and Skype founder Niklas Zennstom's Atomico. The company offers a suite of devices, services, and innovative social sharing and incentive benefits for mobile and home internet access, providing consumers access to free high-speed Internet and mobile phone services nationwide. FreedomPop launched its free broadband service on Clearwire's 4G network earlier this year and went live with Sprint in April 2013. Visit www.FreedomPop.com for more information.
