Freelancer.com Flies into 2011 Breaking into Top 300 Websites Worldwide at #262, Bursts Through 900,000 Projects Posted
SYDNEY, Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Freelancer.com, the world's largest outsourcing marketplace which connects small business with freelancers from around the world, today announced that they had broken into top 300 websites worldwide at number 262 on Alexa.com, the popular website ranking system. At the same time, the site announced that it had passed some 900,000 projects posted to date on the global marketplace.
The 900,000 projects posted to date includes almost US$80,000,000 of paid out user earnings through the site, with the total value of work won by freelancers including offline payments over US$100,000,000. This remarkably represents the equivalent of around US$1 billion dollars of western world labor that has been saved by businesses outsourcing through Freelancer.com.
"2010 has been a milestone year for Freelancer.com," said Matt Barrie, Chief Executive of Freelancer.com. "On Christmas Eve, the site passed 2 million registered users on the back of our acquisition of the New York based LimeExchange.com and now we're in the top 300 websites worldwide with 900,000 projects posted! Our freelancers should pat themselves on the back, as this represents a tremendous amount of work!"
In 2010, the first of a number of regional sites were launched successfully, starting with the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. These sites provide local features, currency and support to key geographic markets. Regionally, Freelancer.com ranks highly- for example in Bangladesh, the site is listed 24th according to Alexa, receiving more traffic than Microsoft, Apple, Amazon.com and LinkedIn.
2010 also saw the launch of virtual goods marketplace Freemarket.com, which already has over 39,000 logos, website templates, sound clips, icons, themes, videos, PowerPoint templates, stock graphics and more.
The company also is the first in the industry to offer 24x7x365 live support including email, tickets and live chat from its dedicated support facility.
