Freelancer.com Notches One Million Projects Posted, Online Outsourcing Now Mainstream
SYDNEY, March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Freelancer.com, the world's largest outsourcing marketplace, reached its one millionth project posted over the weekend and celebrated with 82 Freelancer.com One Million Projects meetup parties in cities all over the world.
"One million projects is a huge landmark for us and shows that online outsourcing has truly gone mainstream," said Matt Barrie, CEO of Freelancer.com. "Each one of these projects represents a real job that put money in the pocket of a freelancer and helped a business increase their productivity and lower their costs by getting quality, affordable work done," he continued.
Of the one million projects there have been a fair share of strange and incredible things outsourced. "Freelancer.com is an ever evolving marketplace and I am continually inspired by the level of sophistication of the projects," stated Barrie. "Some of the more recent notable projects include: an algorithm to detect types of skin cancer, full schematics for a micro air vehicle and architectural renderings for a public housing unit."
The one million projects come from employers from over 240 countries, regions and territories worldwide. These projects represent over $US86 million worth of paid work, and saving small businesses globally between half a billion and a billion dollars in costs. Broken down by region and type of work these projects paint a unique picture of the world of online outsourcing.
