ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- From a field of national champion university teams representing 39 countries, French University in Egypt (UFE) has been named the 2010 SIFE World Cup Champion for a second consecutive year. (www.sife.org)
Through SIFE, students around the world are discovering that "doing well" and "doing good" can be accomplished simultaneously throughout college and career. More than 400 global business leaders assembled at the Anaheim Convention Center October 11-12 to evaluate the outreach projects of 39 national champion teams. The teams were judged on how successful they've been at using business solutions to create economic opportunity for others.
Highlights of UFE's award-winning outreach projects include helping women who lived in poverty due to social and cultural limitations achieve incomes by starting sustainable businesses weaving rugs and bags. The team also taught farmers how to employ water purification systems for agricultural irrigation.
"SIFE students understand the opportunity for business to make a positive economic, social and environmental impact," says Douglas R. Conant, President and CEO of Campbell Soup Company and former Chairman of the SIFE Board of Directors. "It's the reason so many recruiters have identified SIFE as a leading source of socially responsible business talent."
Other top-four finalists include:
University of Nottingham Ningbo, China – China
Belmont University – Nashville, Tennessee, United States
Loyola College – India
The 2011 SIFE World Cup will be held October 3-5, 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
