Frigade Launches Assist API, Turning a Company's AI Agent Into an Onboarding and Support Specialist

Frigade learns a company's product by using it, then makes what it knows available to any agent as a single tool call. The Assist API is the newest capability in the Frigade Assistant platform.

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Frigade today launched the Assist API, which gives a company's own AI agent expert knowledge of that company's product. The company's agent stays the only one its users talk to, and Frigade gives it the knowledge to handle onboarding, support, and in-app assistance.

Software companies are shipping their own AI agents, and those agents typically answer product questions by retrieving from a knowledge base or help center. Documentation is written after a release and the product continues to change, so the answers drift out of date. Accuracy is only part of the problem. Answering with an article puts the work back on the user, who has to read it and figure out how it applies.

Frigade acquires product knowledge a different way. Its browser-based agent signs in to a customer's product with the same permissions a real user has, works through the real workflows, and builds a model of what the product does and how its features connect. Nobody has to document the product or build a map of it. Frigade repeats the process on every release, so what it knows reflects the version of the product that is live rather than an earlier one.

A company registers Frigade as a single tool in the agent it has already built. From there the agent can return an answer about the product, or launch a walkthrough that runs in the user's browser and highlights each step on the page. Every request routes through the company's own agent, so the company keeps control of its interface and users never see a second assistant.

In practice that covers customer onboarding and support together. A new user can be walked through first-time setup without leaving the page. Someone stuck partway through a workflow can be shown the next step instead of a link to an article. Someone asking whether the product can do a thing at all gets an answer based on what it does today.

The Assist API includes the platform Frigade already operates for its assistant customers. Support and customer experience teams can review every conversation their agent handled through Frigade, correct a response, and adjust what the agent knows, without engineering involvement.

The Assist API extends Frigade Assistant, a self-learning assistant used by software companies across logistics, automotive, developer tools, and global employment. It works alongside Frigade Engage, Frigade's platform for user onboarding through checklists, product tours, and announcements.

The Assist API is framework-agnostic and works with any agent that can call a tool, including agents built on the Vercel AI SDK. For enterprise customers, Frigade can run self-hosted with their own LLM keys, so no product data leaves their environment. Frigade is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, with EU data residency available. Guidance runs with each user's own permissions, so the agent only sees what that user can already see.
