Front Runner in Dallas ISD District 1 School Board Trustee Race, Michael Greenberg, Ph.D., Comments on DISD's Superintendent Finalist Mike Miles
DALLAS, April 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The same day current DISD Board of Trustees announced Mike Miles as the lone finalist to serve as Dallas ISD's next superintendent, Michael Greenberg, Ph.D. participated in a District 1 candidate forum. "Michael is the clear break-away candidate in the race," commented Joyce DeHaven a Sparkman resident who attended the forum. DeHaven went on to say "Michael is the only candidate that discussed specifics about DISD. He knows the issues because he is involved and has shown a demonstrated commitment to DISD and he has a child in a District 1 elementary school."
After the forum Michael was asked about the selection of Mike Miles. "Miles certainly has impressive credentials and I am optimistic that he can apply his strengths to improve student achievement. My goal is that every Dallas ISD school is ranked as Exemplary and that our students are prepared to succeed after graduation. If Mr. Miles shares this vision and is willing to commit to achieving results in a transparent manner, he will have a successful tenure," said Greenberg.
Greenberg, a director for a global technology company, Ph.D. and father of a DISD kindergartner, has pledged that he will be an approachable, accountable advocate for District 1 residents. "Voters are looking for a complete candidate in this race, rather than a specialist; someone who understands the implications of policy decisions on people," said Greenberg.
Michael Greenberg, a native Dallasite and graduate of Hillcrest High School, graduated from SMU and received an M.P.A. from Texas State University and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas. Michael is a member of the inaugural class of Leadership DISD and DISD Community Technology Focus Group. He was appointed by Mitchell Rasansky to serve on the City of Dallas Civil Service Board. Greenberg is a member of the DeGolyer Elementary Dad's Club, Sparkman Club Estates Treasurer and Stewardship Chair and Budget & Finance Committee Member for Transfiguration Episcopal Church. He is the Director of PMO with RealPage, Inc., and manages the implementation of financial, human resources and operations technology systems and processes.
