"In Brazil, both large enterprises and small to medium business are more familiar with the benefits offered by the outsourcing business model; however security concerns over data have prevented these companies in the past from investing in outsourcing services,'' noted Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Bruno Tasco. "Companies are now starting to trust services providers' capabilities to guarantee availability and a high-level service, though this mainly regards their basic services, as they still prefer to manage their core business data in-house."
While there is high demand for existing best sellers and regular services like co-location, datacenters are now willing to add more value to their offerings with dedicated hosting, disaster recovery, and storage. The market has witnessed a considerable number of mergers and acquisitions, while outsourcing services providers are expanding operations to address the surge in demand.
Economic growth and customer demand for new services will push IT infrastructure outsourcing in Argentina. Competence levels are poised to rise, enhancing the quality and impact of the services offered to customers. The need to ensure business continuity is also motivating the acquisition of cloud computing architecture.
Robust market growth in Brazil and Argentina will be paralleled in Chile as well. The main trend in the Chilean datacenter market in the next few years will be toward technologies that allow a higher availability of data and a better usage of IT resources, which include consolidation, virtualization, and green IT.
"The Chilean datacenter market is expanding due to the massification of online services, the growing adoption of cloud technology, the need to save costs and time, and the demand for improved productivity," said Tasco. "This market is headed toward even more complex and complete IT infrastructure projects."
With memories of the massive Chilean earthquake fresh in mind, the importance of backing up hardware and software against possible future catastrophes will, in particular, spur the storage and disaster recovery services segments.
