Frost & Sullivan Honours Socomec with New Product Innovation Award for its Unique, Eco-Friendly UPS Offerings
Socomec's Innovative Green Power UPS Range Supports High Energy Efficiency with a Small Carbon Footprint
LONDON, April 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the UPS market, Frost & Sullivan recognises Socomec with the 2011 European Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Award. The company's advanced Green Power UPS range complies with the highest requirements for environmental protection in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and minimal carbon footprint - all without compromising on the safeguard levels for supplied critical applications.
"At a time of rising energy costs, it is imperative to promote products that are energy efficient and lower the total cost of ownership," notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Gautham Gnanajothi. "Socomec's Green Power range of UPS systems supports high efficiency, enables low power consumption and directly results in energy cost savings. It also helps customers benefit from lower carbon tax."
Socomec's Green Power range of UPS systems from 10 kVA to 400 kVA offers high efficiency (up to 96 percent and up to 98 percent in eco-mode) and exceptional performance. This has been made possible through the use of unique 3-level technology.
"Competitors have only now started introducing the 3-level technology in their UPS systems, and that too only in the low power range," elaborates Gnanajothi. "Socomec already introduced the 3-level technology in 2008 with its Masterys range in the lower power range (8 – 120 kVA), subsequently incorporating this technology in the higher power range UPS systems of upto 400 kVA."
The 3-level technology provides high efficiency in VFI double conversion mode and also ensures highest protection grade. Combining it with the energy saving function for the parallel UPS system promotes power optimisation and reduces energy consumption when the system is running at a partial load rate.
In addition, embedded commissioning and the repairing Wizard facilitate the maintenance and repairing of the UPS system.
The commissioning wizard is a guided interactive commissioning procedure, which ensures correct commissioning and lowers the risk of improper installation and commissioning of the UPS system. Similarly, the repair wizard provides an advanced and interactive guided procedure and intelligent automatic testing function that is embedded in the UPS to ensure time saving effectiveness and correct repairing.
Socomec has successfully leveraged leading-edge technologies in its UPS Green Power range. For instance, there is a flexible choice of solution (architecture) for power extension, especially from 160 kVA and above. Parallel systems are available in two different architectures, namely a modular system with either a distributed automatic by-pass or a central automatic by-pass with high short circuit capacity.
"In the 3 level technology, the IGBT switching occurs at half voltage, with a consequent reduction of losses in the inverter and the rectifier, thereby supporting high efficiency," adds Gnanajothi. "The double conversion online operating mode prevents any form of disturbance from reaching the load and avoids negative consequences in terms of power quality and is, thus, best suited for mission critical applications."
Customers gain multiple benefits from Socomec's Green Power range. These include reduction in operating costs and increase in facility space, increased available active output power, larger choice of solutions to suit customer needs, modular systems and higher power capability to clear downstream faults on the load side.
"Additional advantages include full compatibility with the latest generation of servers with an output power factor of 0.9 and complete protection and extended life span of batteries ensured by the interactive monitoring device Battery Health Check (BHC)," concludes Gnanajothi. "The implementation of the three level IGBT technology in both the inverter and the rectifier is another significant benefit offered by Socomec's innovative Green Power UPS product range."
Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in developing a product with innovative elements that leverages leading edge technologies, that offers valued added features and benefits, supports increased customer ROI and has the potential for enhanced customer acquisition/penetration.
