Fruit Street Health Launches New Virtual Lifestyle Medicine Clinic Solution

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Fruit Street Health (Fruit Street), a new telemedicine platform for wellness, today announced the launch of its Fruit Street Wellness Clinic solution for healthcare providers.

This new Fruit Street Wellness Clinic product has been designed specifically for healthcare providers who are looking to monitor the lifestyle of their patients and conduct virtual consultations on Fruit Street's HIPAA compliant FDA-registered video solution. The solution will also be fully integrated with leading wearable technologies such as FitBit, Withings, Jawbone UP, iHealth Labs, and the upcoming Apple iWatch. This will enable clinicians to monitor lifestyle data from their patients such as sleep, exercise, diet, weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose data. The alert system also will send notifications to healthcare providers when patients don't exercise enough, sleep too little, gain weight, or skimping on their fruit and vegetable intake.

The Fruit Street Wellness Clinic solution is available in the form of a desktop application, which allows healthcare providers to share their screen real-time and use whiteboard tools to review this data with their patients during video calls. The solution also allows providers to keep clinical notes to document what happened with each patient during each virtual consultation.  Providers will also be able to collect payments online from their patients and set their availability for virtual consults using a scheduling tool.

The platform is also integrated with wireless bathroom scales and allows patients to track their food intake in a mobile app via the Fruit Street Food Diary feature. The Food Diary feature enables dietitians to see exactly what their patients are eating in real-time in a centralized dashboard.

"We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Fruit Street Wellness Clinic solution," said Laurence Girard, Founder and CEO of Fruit Street Health. "Our engineers, designers, management team and investors have worked tirelessly over the past several month to build a technology platform that fills a critical void in the wellness space, and helps dietitians and physicians expand their reach and improve their offerings to current and prospective patients. This is an important first step as we gear up to announce more technology launches and upgrades in the coming months that appeal not only to the dietitian and physician community, but also to other practice specialists, as well as healthcare providers and everyday patients."

This news comes on the heels of a recent announcement that Fruit Street had raised a $500,000 round of seed investment, led by a series of individual investors, the majority of whom are prominent physicians. Additionally, Fruit Street recently announced its formation as a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation ("B Corp"), as well as the appointment of leading physicians to its Advisory Board and the opening of its headquarters in the San Francisco East Bay.
