FS Energy Expands Management Team
New additions to leadership reinforce growing role of FS Energy in FirstService portfolio
NEW YORK, July 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- FS Energy announced today two key additions to its management team headquartered in New York City. Chris De Weaver joins the team as National Project Development Manager and Joshua Smith as Energy Engineer. These additions are part of FS Energy's continued expansion, reflecting the demand for its services among FirstService Corporation's (TSX: FSV; FSV.PR.U andNASDAQ: FSRV) managed residential properties in New York.
Industry veteran Chris De Weaver has spent the majority of his career working with large property owners, managers and developers – most recently focusing exclusively on the energy field. Previously he worked as part of the management team in product development and project marketing for a leading real estate brokerage firm. He has spent a large portion of his career in Sydney, Australia and in the Asia Pacific region as a senior manager in the sales and marketing divisions of property management firms.
At FS Energy, De Weaver will work with building managers to help identify and understand the areas in which they can help their boards make better energy decisions. This will entail assisting the board to both save money and reduce carbon emissions. These measures can be no-cost and low-cost items, such as utility auditing or procurement, or more capital intensive projects, such as oil to gas conversions of boilers, sub-metering, lighting upgrades, and mechanical retrofits.
"FS Energy has clearly become an innovative leader in designing customized energy management solutions for residential properties, and I look forward to helping to contribute to the groundbreaking work the company is doing in this field," says De Weaver. "The opportunity to make a real impact first in New York and eventually around the country is what attracted me to FS Energy," he adds.
Joshua Smith will work directly with building owners to help evaluate and develop the most effective energy management solutions. This will include conducting on-site evaluations and leveraging information garnered with FS Energy's proprietary benchmarking database, FS Data, to provide residential property owners with the most effective energy management plan for their building.
Prior to FS Energy, Smith spent the past four years at Motso Technologies providing steam energy consulting and audits, and previous to that he was an equities trader at Trillium Trading LLC. His impressive background also includes work for Constellation Energy at their Nine-Mile Nuclear Facility as well as at Horizon Engineering where he worked on the New York Times Building. Smith holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
"We're excited to add these seasoned professionals to the FS Energy management team," says David Kuperberg, CEO of FS Energy. "Their experience and leadership will be crucial in the expansion of FS Energy's services throughout New York and across all of First Service's managed properties around the country."
