Future of Mobility Will Be Flexible, Integrated, and Door-to-Door, Says Frost & Sullivan
Frost & Sullivan presents opportunities for Mobility Integrators, a new business model in the mobility market during web conference
LONDON, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Travel today is more than just station to station; it is about door-to-door connectivity, thus giving rise to new market players offering integrated various modes to travel.
"The Mobility of today is about seamless travel using all of the various modes of transportation available, rather than relying solely on one transportation mode," said Frost & Sullivan Mobility Programme Manager, Mr. Martyn Briggs, during a recent web conference introducing a new business model in the mobility market, the Mobility Integrators (MI).
"A Mobility Integrator is an entity or a combination of entities in the value chain which provides the right combination of various modes of transportation to offer an integrated, multi-modal door-to-door mobility solution," he continued. Europe alone is expected to have approximately 10 to 16 Mobility Integrators by 2016 and more than five country-wide Mobility Integrators by 2020. B2B customers will be amongst the most attractive Mobility Integrator customer groups towards 2020, with Fleet companies and Transport Operators to emerge as key market players.
Cross-interoperability and co-operation between the different entities in the ecosystem however, will be the crux that makes or breaks the future of mobility integration. Car OEMs, suppliers, transport companies, just like IT and technology providers need to cooperate with public transport operators, infrastructure providers as well as car or ridesharing companies, parking operators and leasing companies. Stakeholders in an ever expanding integrated value chain take the role of Mobility Integrators in the search for a totally integrated multi-modal door-to-door connected travel.
"The NS Business card in the Netherlands is the only full-fledged Mobility Integrator, while Mobility Mixx uses the same platform to extend its offering," outlined Mr. Yeswant Abhimanyu, lead analyst on Frost & Sullivan's recent Mobility Integrators research study. "In an ever expanding value-chain, transport operators and fleet operators are expected to be amongst the key potential mobility integrators towards the future."
The future focus will be on moving towards integrated mobility with a number of mobility concepts and disruptive business models. Customers for mobility integration range from everyday general public to cities and countries looking to rebrand their positions.
Frost & Sullivan has recently organised a web conference entitled "The Future of Mobility – New Market Entrants in Mobility Integration" The web conference summarises latest developments in the mobility market and outlines new business models and opportunities for the different stakeholders across the value-chain.
