NEW YORK, May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Galtere Ltd, A New York based commodity focused hedge fund manager, is announcing the recent expansion of its research team. Having put the finishing touches on the Galtere Research and Development Center (GRAD) and the Galtere Alternative Energy Center (GAEC), Renee Haugerud – the founder and CIO of Galtere Ltd. – is pleased to announce that Galtere has hired 2 additional commodity-focused analysts to provide in depth coverage of the fundamental supply and demand factors driving commodity markets. "We are a commodity-focused firm and together with the GRAD and GAEC, this team provides me with a very detailed, bottom-up analysis of the commodity markets, from the agriculture complex to base and precious metals, to the fossil fuel and alternative energy markets," said Haugerud.
New team members:
Geoff Fila, a 10-year veteran of GE Asset Management, joined the team in April 2011. Prior to joining Galtere, Mr. Fila was the Assistant Portfolio Manager of the commodity funds at GEAM. Mr. Fila had also held roles within their U.S. equity research team covering base materials and energy-related companies. Mr. Fila earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Maziar Brumand, comes to us from Macquarie Capital, joined the team in April 2011. At Macquarie, he performed detailed fundamental commodity and equity research and was most recently in the top-ranked metals and mining group. Prior to working at Macquarie, Mr. Brumand was an analyst for the Harbert Commodity Fund. Mr. Brumand has an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University.
Messrs. Fila and Brumand join Paul Caruso and Alan Mathison, who with Ms. Haugerud as CIO form the commodity research team at Galtere. Mr. Caruso is now a consultant to Galtere after five years of full-time employment with the firm, and he remains a valued resource to the team.
