Edward F. Downing III to Be Honored

NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Gauthier, Houghtaling & Williams Attorney Edward F. Downing III will be honored by New Orleans CityBusiness next month as one of fifty attorneys recognized for Leadership in Law. The magazine announced that Downing was named to the annual list, which includes the top attorneys in the metropolitan New Orleans area. According to the publication, the list includes "50 legal professionals who have helped move the legal community forward with energy, innovative ideas, achievements and a commitment to excellence."

Mr. Downing is a career litigator, having earned an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell for fifteen consecutive years, from 1996-2011. He has made a national name for himself in the field of product liability litigation. His work has triggered recalls that that resulted in redesigns for safer products. Most recently, Mr. Downing's involvement led to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall of a Mini Bike with a gas cap that could result in serious burn injuries to riders.

John Houghtaling, managing partner of the law firm of Gauthier, Houghtaling & Williams, said the honor is a reflection of Mr. Downing's career as a successful trial attorney.
