NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- GCR Inc. announces the 2014 NuclearIQ® Users Group and Industry Update conference, to be held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans from March 10 through March 11, 2014.  Representatives from over 40 nuclear power stations in the US and Canada, representing two-thirds of the entire fleet, will attend to learn about emergent technologies, share information and collaborate with peers and industry leaders.  Historically focused on chemistry departments, NuclearIQ now serves teams from Groundwater, Radiation Protection, Emergency Services and other plant groups through data management solutions.

• Ortec, a division of Ametek, will demonstrate a portable gamma spec machine and the automated update of NuclearIQ with sample results in real time.
• Leidos, formerly of SAIC, with partners On-Ramp Network and SCT Engineering, will demonstrate a wireless, ultra-portable, radiation monitor in a compact battery-backed sensor housing that collects data over a secure wireless network, updating NuclearIQ database, reports, maps and the Control Room in real time.  This technology delivers twenty times the battery-backed EPZ coverage at 1/20 the cost, 24/7, over previous rad monitoring technologies and is the ideal solution in this post-Fukushima era.

Additionally, stations from the largest fleets in the US will demonstrate an automated electronic transfer of lab test results into NuclearIQ from external labs. This electronic transfer is a time saving routine that advances posting and report generation within the NuclearIQ software system, and eliminate technicians waiting to key-in data from hardcopy lab reports.
