Georgia Department of Education Adopts Carnegie Learning Math Textbooks and Software

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Carnegie Learning, Inc., publisher of K-12 mathematics curricula and professional development services, announces that the Georgia Department of Education has approved Carnegie Learning's vertically aligned sequence of middle school and high school textbooks and personalized instructional software as adopted curricula through 2018.

Following a comprehensive K-12 Mathematics Textbook Adoption review process this year, the following materials aligned to the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) are approved for purchase with state education funds:

• CCGPS Grade 6
• CCGPS Grade 7
• CCGPS Grade 8
• CCGPS Coordinate Algebra
• GPS Georgia Math 2 (CCGPS Analytic Geometry available for Fall 2013)
• GPS Georgia Math 3 (CCGPS Advanced Algebra available for Fall 2013)

This is the first adoption of mathematics resources under the new CCGPS standards implemented by the Georgia State Board of Education as part of the national Common Core State Standards initiative. The new standards are designed to provide a consistent framework that prepares students for success in college and the 21st century workplace. In addition to setting new, more rigorous expectations for student performance, the CCGPS also provide educators with a clear, focused set of expectations against which they can assess student progress.
