Gesher Jewish Day School of Northern Virginia Welcomes Senator Joseph and Hadassah Lieberman as the 30th Anniversary Spring Gala Honorees
FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Gesher Jewish Day School (Gesher) of Fairfax, VA, announces honorees for their annual Spring Gala, to be held at Congregation Olam Tikvah on May 20, 2012.
With great thanks to the 30th Anniversary Spring Gala Committee, the Gesher community is thrilled to announce the 2012 honorees, Senator Joe and Hadassah Lieberman. The Liebermans' longstanding commitment to the Jewish community of Greater Washington, and profound support of Jewish education, has been a mainstay in their personal and professional lives. They are among the strongest advocates for Jewish education in the community.
As Senator Lieberman said at a graduation in New Orleans (2005), "[as day school graduates] ... you are uniquely prepared to go out into the world ... you have learned Jewish history, you have learned Jewish values, and you have accepted responsibility for the Jewish mission."
Additional honorees:
Sharon Rosenblatt, for her outstanding achievements as one of the finest, most hardworking educators, inspiring minds and teaching students at Gesher since its inception;
Judy Gabel and Esther Uscher, for their invaluable contributions to Gesher on the occasion of their retirement. Gesher thanks them for their years of dedication and outstanding service;
Meredith Parnes, on the occasion of her 13th (Bat Mitzvah) year of outstanding and irreplaceable service to Gesher.
Sara Rosenthal, the Tikkun Olam Alumni Award Winner, 2012, chosen for her work on behalf of Grassroot Soccer in Cape Town, South Africa, a non-profit with the ultimate goal of creating an AIDS-free generation. Sara exemplifies the values Gesher seeks to instill in their students with a wonderful, hands-on example of making the world a better place. She is a Gesher JDS (2000), W.T. Woodson High School (2006), and University of Virginia (2010) graduate, and is the daughter of Carol Gordon and Steve Rosenthal.
Invitations are forthcoming. Online purchase of tickets, ads/tributes, and sponsorships are available at http://www.gesher-jds.org.
Gesher is very excited to welcome a record number of attendees as they celebrate three decades educating children in Northern Virginia.
