Get Ready For A Cat Fight: Fresh Step Litter Invites America To Weigh In On The Great Cat Debate
The Claws Come Out as Feline Friends and Foes Ponder The Pet's Peculiarities
OAKLAND, Calif., May 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Forget red vs. blue, the color that most divides America calico. Is that cute little kitty in the window an angel or a devil?
Now, with the launch of the Great Cat Debate, Fresh Step® litter is taking that question to the masses.
Fresh Step litter will host The Great Cat Debate on the brand's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/freshstep) in May and June. In addition to a simple vote – do you love cats or hate them? – the debate will feature a panel of funny feline foes going toe-to-toe with the cat community on the pros and cons of cat ownership.
Each week, a panel of comedians led by Lisa Landry will pontificate on the peculiarities of cats. The CATegories will range from "Bizarre Behaviors: Napping, CatNip, Hairballs, and Chasing Shiny Things" to "Tales from the Litter Box." In response, the witty kitty loving community is invited to "scratch back" via comments to tout their cats' greatness.
"I love a cat's fierce personality, but let's face it, they're pretty weird. They just give me so much material along with their hairballs," said Landry. "Then again, it's not often that the cat's got my tongue."
Feline fans will have to put their best paw forward to battle it out against other comedic pros, including Tom Segura, Dan Cummins, Ralph Harris, Christina Paszitzky and Debra DiGiovanni. As if defending the honor of cats isn't reward enough, every cat commenter from the kitty community will be entered for a chance to win a $1,000 prize.
"Cat lovers love the fact that cats play by their own set of rules," said David Kargas, a spokesperson for the Fresh Step litter brand and owner of two cats. "So we thought this topic would spark a fun and spirited debate in our community. As any cat-lover will tell you, their quirks are often their most endearing traits. Feline foes, well they just don't get it."
Both sides are sure to have strong arguments, but in the end the cats will win thanks to a $25,000 donation from Fresh Step litter to the ASPCA® (The American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®). The makers of Fresh Step litter are committed to helping cats and, since 2001, have donated more than $2.5 million to the ASPCA.
