Get Soaked At The Great American Trucking Show To Raise Awareness Of ALS
DALLAS, Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Baylor Trucking is bringing the viral "Ice Bucket Challenge" to strike out ALS at the Great American Trucking Show this week in Dallas and generate awareness of ALS. Challenging the 7 million professionals in the trucking industry to take the challenge, Baylor Trucking thought GATS would be a perfect venue to spread the word and get soaked along the way.
"As with many families in America, ALS has become part of our everyday life at Baylor Trucking. We want to do all we can to help raise awareness and find a cure for this disease," said Cari Baylor, Vice President of Baylor Trucking. "Our family has been in trucking for 70 years and we are thrilled so many of our trucking friends and colleagues are taking the challenge and helping fight ALS. Our hope is to reach all corners of the industry and generate even more support for the #KeepTrucking4ALS" cause."
The Baylor Trucking "Ice Bucket Challenge" will be located in the Dallas Convention Center parking lot – near the Shuttle Route 4 lot on Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23 from 10 am until 5 pm. Buckets of ice will be provided and all challenges will be videotaped for social media channels. To view some of the videos already please visit – www.facebook.com/keeptrucking4als or #icebucketchallenge on Twitter.
The challenge, which has hit the social media circuit, involves people voluntarily drenching themselves with buckets of ice cold water on video, posting that video to social media, and then nominating others to do the same within 24 hours, all in an effort to raise awareness for ALS. Those who refuse to take the challenge are asked to make a donation to the ALS charity of their choice. To donate, visit www.als.net.
Donations and awareness are pouring in nationwide, it is the "cool" thing to do. Baylor Trucking hopes that GATS participants and the trucking industry will do the same.
