Get Your Kids Reading This Summer! And Enter To Win a $1,000 CHET Contribution
HARTFORD, Conn., July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Connecticut State Treasurer Denise L. Nappier is pleased to announce that the Connecticut Higher Education Trust ("CHET") is once again partnering with the Connecticut State Library to run a promotion in conjunction with each library's Summer Reading program. This is the fourth year that CHET has sponsored the promotion, this year called "Think Big! Save for College!" The promotion offers Connecticut families a chance to win $1,000 contribution to a CHET Direct-Sold 529 College Savings Plan account, plus $500 for their local library to support children's programs.
"We are thrilled to continue partnering with libraries to bring 'Think Big! Save for College!' to Connecticut families," said Treasurer Nappier. "Our past promotions have been a success, encouraging kids to read while showing them that a college education is possible. The promotion also helps parents and legal guardians understand the importance of saving early for their child's college education."
Parents or legal guardians of Connecticut children through grade 8 can sign up for "Think Big! Save for College!" at their local library.
Four families—one from each quadrant of the state—will receive a $1,000 contribution to a CHET account. Their library will receive $500 that can be used for future children's programs. Eight second prize winners (two from each quadrant) will receive a $50 Barnes & Noble® gift card and their library will receive $50. All winners will be recognized at a special event to be held in September at the Connecticut State Library.
The promotion began June 1, 2012 and runs through the entry deadline of August 17, 2012.
