Global Communications Firm Finn Partners Increases Investment in Detroit

DETROIT, Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Finn Partners, a global, full-service public relations and digital agency, today announced it has hired William Nowling as senior partner of its Detroit office where he will add strategic leadership to existing local and national clients and direct new business growth and development for the office. Nowling comes to Finn after leading communication efforts for the city of Detroit's historic Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy.

For the last two years, Nowling served as communications director and spokesman for Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn D. Orr, where he helped frame the city's bankruptcy story to local, national and international audiences. Before that, he was director of public affairs for Duffey Petrosky, an advertising and marketing communications agency based in Farmington Hills, Mich. Nowling has more than 20 years of experience counseling clients and C-suite leaders on public affairs and crisis campaigns. Nowling also served as communications director and spokesman for Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder's first gubernatorial campaign, and remains a trusted adviser.

Finn Partners also announced that Angela Corsi Leon has joined the Detroit team as associate vice president. Leon brings nearly 10 years of integrated marketing communications experience specializing in consumer technology. In her new role, Leon will work with Vice President Emily Shirden to manage the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan digital communications account, as well as support the agency's new business efforts in Detroit and the Midwest. Her experience in national consumer and business media strategy, product launches and campaign development for Fortune 500 brands and start-ups alike, is an asset to regional companies seeking to compete in an evolving, global marketplace. Previously, Leon worked at Weber Shandwick and Airfoil Group.

To accommodate the rapid growth in the Midwest, Finn Partners Detroit will be adding additional mid-level and junior staff in the coming months.
