Global Investors to Speak About Turkish Infrastructure Investments

Jul 30, 2015, 03:00 ET from GFC- Global Financial Conferences

LONDON, July 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Chris Wrenn, Blackrock's Managing Director of Infrastructure Debt and Burcu Uzunoglu of Allianz are amongst a number of key global institutional investors speaking at this year's Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey conference on 11th & 12th November in Istanbul.

Financing Turkey's infrastructure and energy projects is the country's key challenge, given new regulations that restrict global banks from lending to long term projects.  Although institutional investors and asset managers have been seen as the natural financiers of projects, take-up in Emerging markets has been slow.

Chris Wrenn and Burcu Uzunoglu will be speaking on a panel entitled, "Attracting institutional investors to the Turkish project and infrastructure debt markets." Other speakers include Brigitte Posch, Babson Capital's Head of Emerging Market Debt, and Mashreq Capital's Zeina Rizk, both of whom will speak about global investor appetite for Turkish investments.

"This is perhaps the most interesting of all the years we have hosted Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey.  Market activity has been slower this year than in past years because of market volatilities and elections. On the flip side, Turkey is benefiting from the lower oil price and its impact on its current account (which has traditionally been its biggest challenge). High level industry experts such as Chris Wrenn of Blackrock, Brigitte Posch from Babson Capital is why Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey is such a major event in everyone's calendar.  It's a rare opportunity to hear from decision-makers about their views on the market and what the Turkish banking and markets industry can do to raise its profile amongst other global economies.  Given the interest around Turkey, we expect this year to be another blow-out for the event," said Alex Johnson, CEO of GFC- Global Financial Conferences, organisers of Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey.

Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey is Turkey's largest capital markets conference, attracting issuers, borrowers, investors, bankers and advisors. For more information about this year's event, please contact Marcia Ardila at, or +44(0)20-7045-0919.
