Global Media Conference Partners with Family of Media Veteran To Raise Money For Cancer Research
LOS ANGELES, March 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- GABBCON is hosting its next event in Chicago on 4/6/2016 inside the iconic Chicago Stock Exchange Room and has partnered with Climb For A Cure, a philanthropic cause to raise money for the discovery and development of innovative therapies for cancer treatment. Climb For a Cure was founded by Douglas Rotatori, Brother-In-Law of Media Veteran Curt Hecht. Curt was a great father, husband and accomplished media executive, who was known and loved by many. Curt's passion outside of media was cycling. Curt rode all over the world. No ride or climb was too challenging, and every ride was too short. "One of Curt's wishes was to be cremated and have his cycling friends spread his ashes at the top of the French Alps after one of their climbs. Honoring one wish didn't seem enough. Why not rally a group of friends and colleagues, all of whom have been painfully touched by cancer, around a difficult, yet symbolic, challenge to raise money for a top cancer research/prevention organization and help those who have dedicated their careers and lives to finding a cure?" said Rotatori.
Climb For A Cure has selected The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) of Columbia University. HICCC is on the cutting edge of research in immunotherapy and immunogenetics, two disciplines which show great promise in finding a cure for cancer. Website http://www.columbia.edu/cancer/.
"Curt was a pillar in the Chicago media community and a leader in audience based buying. We are honored to celebrate Curt's contribution and his life by raising money for this worthy cause," said Gabe Greenberg, GABBCON CEO. "GABBCON will donate a large portion of every ticket or table sold to Climb For a Cure. Nearly everyone has been painfully touched by cancer."
