There is a continuous decline in the price of cellular M2M radio modules over the years leading to a significant decline in M2M applications in the M2M industry. The 3G radio modules were new, and their prices were two to three times higher than the prices of 2G modules. However, in 2014, the prices reduced. It is expected that the price of the modules will decline further during the forecast period.

According to the report, the implementation of IoT is increasing significantly in developed regions such as North America and Western Europe and in countries such as China, South Korea, and Singapore. This enables the use of several new M2M services such as smart homes, connected cars, connected healthcare, and smart parking. However, these services require devices that have a mobile M2M module. For instance, a car will be a connected car when its head unit has a mobile M2M module that will connect its equipment to the car manufacturer, or a connected car service provider, using a mobile network. With the rise in the implementation of connected services, there is also an increase in the shipment and demand for mobile M2M modules.
