Last year's GMIC Silicon Valley G-Startup winner Open Garden has garnered extensive media coverage of late on the rising popularity of their off the grid messaging app Firechat. Speaking about their experience at last year's G-Startup competition, Christophe Daligault, Chief Marketing Officer at Open Garden shared, "GMIC SV G-Startup competition was a fantastic experience for Open Garden. It was a great honor to be chosen as the winner of the startup competition, amongst so many amazing startups from all over the world. Thanks to the recognition and exposure, we developed great relationships which led us to a better understanding and ability to grow as a truly global business. For example, our users located outside of the US now add up to 80% of the total audience vs 45% a year ago. And I can say that competing at GMIC was a total thrill. When you're on stage with people such as Dave McClure and Tim Draper, anything can happen."
"The exposure you get from GMIC SV puts you on the map globally. We didn't know much about doing business in India and Asia until we attended GMIC SV last year. Thanks to the people at GMIC and connections we made, we now have a much better handle on how we can develop our activities in those markets," Christophe added.
