PITTSBURGH, Oct. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- GNC Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: GNC) (the "Company"), a leading global specialty retailer of health, wellness and performance products, and the Official Vitamin and Sports Nutrition Retailer of the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL hockey team, today announced the launch of a free, limited edition themed T-shirt collection for students.
The shirts will be distributed monthly to local college and high school students who participate in the GNC Student Rush program. The GNC Student Rush program, co-sponsored by GNC and the Pittsburgh Penguins, is open to local college and high school students and offers discounted tickets to Pens home games, local concerts and other sporting events. The limited edition T-shirts will feature holiday centric designs each month. The first collectors T-shirt will be given out on Thursday, October 27, and features a 'Halloween Hat Trick' theme in honor of the 21st anniversary of Mario Lemieux's hat trick in 1995 that included his 500th goal.
To participate and receive offers for discounted tickets, students can sign up by texting RUSH to 32623. A select number of winners are chosen at random for a free pair of tickets to each Pens home game.
"As a long time partner of the Pittsburgh Penguins and a Founding Partner of PPG Paints Arena, GNC is excited about adding even more to this program that allows students to attend the perpetually sold out Penguins games at a discounted cost," said Jeff Hennion, Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing and E-Commerce Officer of GNC. "GNC has always looked to support local programs that promote health and wellness, and our collaboration with the Penguins is another way to show our support for the well-being of students and the community."
Terry Kalna, Senior Vice President of Sales and Broadcasting for the Pittsburgh Penguins said, "GNC Student Rush is one of our most important community initiatives and enables the Penguins to connect in a meaningful way with the young people of our region. GNC and the Penguins share core values and a deep commitment to community service, and both the Penguins and the students thank them for their continued support of Student Rush. The collectors series T-Shirts are a great addition and the students are going to love them."
GNC and Penguins staff will be available to distribute t-shirts and coupons to student attendees with valid school ID at GNC Student Rush home games. A special Penguins and GNC Snap filter will be available for three hours on game day so attendees can take pictures in their shirt between 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
