GOOD's Global Neighborhood Challenge Announced At TEDxChange; Global Innovators Enter For A Chance To Win Pop-Up Fellowship In Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, April 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- GOOD Worldwide LLC. (good.is) – an integrated media, thought leadership and community action platform – is offering five entrepreneurs the opportunity to make a difference in the world with the launch of the Global Neighborhood Challenge (global.maker.good.is). Announced today by Melinda Gates at TEDxChange in Seattle, GOOD's Global Neighborhood Challenge will offer "pop-up fellowships" for five innovators who are passionate about issues in community development. Working with GOOD and its partners, fellows will receive a weeklong trip to Los Angeles to share ideas, and learn how to elevate and expand their ideas.
The Global Neighborhood Challenge is part of the GOOD Global Citizenship Project, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Challenge is now accepting submissions from individuals (who can also represent their business or non-profit organizations) worldwide who are creating scalable projects that strengthen the social fabric of their communities. Between now and April 30, applicants can enter to receive an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles to collaborate with GOOD's community of changemakers, fellow innovators and entrepreneurs. The fellows will scale their work to create more equitable and successful neighborhoods around the globe.
"The GOOD Global Neighborhood Challenge aims to discover the best local innovations and bring them to scale globally," said Ben Goldhirsh, CEO, GOOD Worldwide. "At GOOD HQ we're creating new ways to enable engaged citizens to connect with others and maximize their impact at home and around the globe. We're thrilled to collaborate with organizations like the Gates Foundation that are driving social innovation across so many critical areas."
The pop-up fellowship will include a collaborative workshop, toolkits for community innovation, networking opportunities and mentorship from the GOOD Local Los Angeles Chapter. The five fellows will be selected by a panel of experts convened by GOOD. For more information on the Global Neighborhood Challenge, visit http://global.maker.good.is/
