Reportlinker Insight published a survey to answer three questions:
1. Considering the big investments made for VR headsets, is there a real echo for consumers?
2. What's the feedback of their experience? What improvements can be made to completely satisfy the consumer and to enlarge its adoption?
3. What is the purchase intent for these VR devices?
Results:
1. A disconnect exists between public's VR views and marketers' enthusiasm
Half of respondents are unable to name a VR brand.
However, more than seven in ten of respondents have a positive attitude toward VR, when explained.
2. Technology new to most, but users give it solid marks
Those who have tried a VR gave a score of B for the general experience (6.9/10 of overall satisfaction score)
The realism, the high-quality interface and the immersive potential were the most impressive elements of the experience.
3. Mainstream VR acceptance and willingness to spend are lacking
The majority of respondents (55%) who have never tried a VR device are not interested in taking a test drive with the headset.
When it comes to cost, the majority of respondents would be unwilling to spend more than $300 for a headset.
