Government Websites Designed by CivicPlus Earn Recognition for Six U.S. Towns and Counties

MANHATTAN, Kan., July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Government agency websites designed by CivicPlus, a leading developer of open government technology, have earned recognition for six more U.S. towns and counties. The company announced today that interactive websites it designed for local government agencies in Washington, California, Texas and Indiana were honored in three prestigious interactive awards competitions.

In the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) 2011 Awards of Excellence Competition two CivicPlus clients, Plumas County, CA and Jackson County, IN, were recognized for excellence in Internet/Intranet Websites and Interactive Media. It was the third award for Plumas County, which won a Bronze Award of Excellence in the 9th Annual Horizon Interactive Awards and a Silver Award of Distinction in the International Academy of Visual Arts 2011 Communicator Awards last month.

The cities of Menifee, CA and Richland, WA, were two of just seven cities honored by the Public Technology Institute (PTI) for their innovative application of Web 2.0 technologies and social media tools. Showcasing an array of CivicPlus applications and online services, the Richland and Menifee government websites were chosen based on their ability to offer services and functionality that increased citizen engagement, government accountability and operational efficiencies.

In addition to these national awards, websites designed by CivicPlus for the City of Burleson and League City, TX, received high honors at the annual conference of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO). Burleson took 1st Place in the "Tech Services - Web Site" category, 2nd Place in the "Best Use of Social Media" category and 3rd Place in the "Tech Services - E-news category." League City took 2nd Place in the "Tech Services - Web Site" category and 3rd Place in the "Marketing - Most Creative with Least Dollars" category.
