Bipartisan Governors Join 9/11 Day's "UNIITE For Good" Campaign, Calling on Americans and Elected Leaders Across the Nation to Honor 9/11 Through Service

Moore's "Service United" and Cox's "Disagree Better" Initiatives Come Together Around a Shared Message: Americans Can Hold Different Views and Still Serve Side by Side

NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The nonprofit 9/11 Day, which is organizing the 9/11 National Day of Service for the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, today announced that Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Maryland Governor Wes Moore will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance initiative, joining together across political lines to encourage Americans to honor the anniversary through good deeds and service.

As part of their participation, Governors Cox and Moore are calling on governors, elected officials and Americans across the country to observe the 25th anniversary not only by remembering those lost and injured on September 11, 2001, but also by rekindling the extraordinary spirit of unity, compassion and service that arose in the aftermath of the attacks.

The governors are lending their voices in support of 9/11 Day's "UNIITE For Good" campaign, which seeks to bring the nation together and generate 1,000,000 pledges of good deeds between now and the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Americans can visit 911day.org to pledge good deeds or find ways to volunteer in their communities.

Their joint leadership brings together two complementary national efforts focused on strengthening civic bonds.

Governor Moore, a U.S. Army combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, currently serves as Chair of the National Governors Association and recently launched Service United, his signature NGA initiative aimed at expanding opportunities for Americans to serve while strengthening communities, workforce development and civic connection.

Governor Cox, a former NGA Chair and current member of its Executive Committee, created Disagree Better, the national initiative focused on reducing toxic polarization, treating political opponents with dignity and demonstrating that Americans can disagree strongly while still finding common ground and working together.

Together, the governors will use the 25th anniversary of 9/11 to advance a simple civic message: we do not need to agree on everything to serve together, help our neighbors and solve problems together.

The governors are also encouraging fellow governors and other elected leaders throughout the country to make their own good deed pledges, share what they plan to do in service for 9/11, and invite the people they represent to participate.
