LEADING TIMES SQUARE BILLBOARDS TO UNITE TO OBSERVE ADVERTISING "MOMENT OF SILENCE" HONORING THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11

Times Square Media Companies Join 9/11 Day for Unprecedented 9:11 A.M. Tribute

NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- On the morning of September 11, 2026, many of Times Square's iconic digital billboards will pause their normal advertising to participate in a special National Moment of Silence at 9:11 a.m. ET, marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

The first-of-its-kind observance is being organized by the nonprofit 9/11 Day, with support from the Times Square Alliance and The Broadway League, along with support and participation from leading companies in the out-of-home advertising industry.

At 9:11 a.m., more than 30 participating Times Square displays will simultaneously feature a commemorative message during a one-minute Moment of Silence. Immediately afterward, singer Francesca "Ces" Picerno, who lost her father, Matthew Martin Picerno, in the terrorist attacks of 9/11, will join young performers from Broadway Bound Kids for a live rendition of "America the Beautiful."

9/11 Day Calls on Americans to "UNIITE For Good."

At the Moment of Silence observance, in Duffy Square, 9/11 Day will also unveil a 40-foot-long fully lit sculpture entitled "UNIITE." The sculpture, which was on display in Central Park on September 9, and at the Intrepid Museum on September 10, is part of 9/11 Day's nationwide 25th anniversary activities, encouraging Americans to remember and honor the victims of 9/11 and those who rose in service by joining together in unity and doing good deeds in their communities. The Moment of Silence tribute has special personal meaning for Jay Winuk, who co-founded 9/11 Day in 2002 with his friend, David Paine. Jay's younger brother Glenn, an attorney and longtime volunteer firefighter and EMT, was killed in the line of duty in the collapse of the World Trade Center South Tower.

"As did so many first responders, my brother Glenn ran toward danger that morning to help people he didn't know, to serve his community," said Winuk, executive vice president of 9/11 Day. "Twenty-five years later, these few minutes of silence observed in the heart of Times Square is a simple but deeply meaningful act of remembrance for those we lost.
