GrainPro Launches Production Of The "SGB Forte": A New, Cost-Effective SuperGrainbag For Specialty Coffee Beans
BOSTON, April 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- GrainPro, Inc., an innovator in the safe, cost-effective storage and drying of grains and seeds, announced today the production of a new hermetic bag for the safe storage and transport of high-value, specialty coffee beans.
The new 69 kg capacity SuperGrainbag "Forte" (SGB Forte™) is an advanced solution that is sealed in two seconds by heat welding and no longer requires an outer bag to protect it.
"The Forte is made of stronger material than previous airtight bags," said Philippe Villers, President of GrainPro. "The Forte maintains and protects the aroma, color, freshness and quality of the coffee bean as it is stored and transported from the country of origin to the US or other destination markets without the need for insertion into a protective bag."
Founded in Concord, MA in 1992, GrainPro provides safe, cost-effective solar drying and airtight storage products, especially for areas with hot and humid climates. GrainPro aims to improve the quality of life by reducing world hunger, protecting public health, increasing small farmers' incomes, and improving the environment. With the developing world as its primary target, its products are now used in more than 80 countries, including the United States.
Already, GrainPro produces the industry standard, 69 KG SuperGrainbag™, but the Forte is a stronger alternative. "GrainPro has responded to coffee producers who want the quality preservation of our hermetic liner bags, without having to buy another bag to protect the liner," said Villers. "The Forte is not only stronger, but will save customers money and time."
Moreover, the Forte can also be used to store corn, paddy, milled rice, sorghum, soybeans, wheat, cocoa, beans and seeds. The Forte was unveiled at the opening of the Specialty Coffee Association of America annual conference in Boston that runs from April 11-14. Information about the Forte and other GrainPro product can be found at booth #1030.
In 2010, GrainPro fulfilled a $7 million USAID subcontract for delivery of its hermetic storage and solar dryer systems to small Afghan farmers, with orders ranging from its 100-pound-capacity, portable airtight SuperGrainbagsTM to its 10-50-ton capacity Cocoon™. GrainPro has also sold its storage solutions to international organizations and NGOs for use in countries such as Guatemala, Nicaragua, the Philippines, India, Ghana, South Sudan and Kenya.
In addition to keeping aflatoxin levels low, GrainPro's on-farm and village-level hermetic storage units and solar dryers prevent loss of germination capacity in stored seeds. These also significantly reduce post-harvest losses of food supply among both small and large farmers.
