Grandpappy Point Marina Hosts National Marina Day June 9, 2012

DENISON, Texas, June 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Grandpappy Point Marina is pleased to announce that it will be celebrating National Marina Day on Saturday, June 9, 2012. On this special day, Grandpappy will be re-igniting the family-friendly marina lifestyle with its array of boating benefits and fun-filled events. 

Since 1928, marinas have been an integral part of American recreation as well as American life and in celebration of this important day; folks are invited to participate in an assortment of entertaining experiences. Starting with a Free 5K Run/Walk at 7:30am, with check-in at The Point Restaurant, the race will kick off at 8am. Following the 5K Run/Walk there will be a 1K youth race in addition to knot tying, cleat tying, and water safety for youngsters.

Rededicating the local, environmentally friendly destination, Grandpappy Point Marina will also conduct an open house that allows visitors to observe all of the Marina's facilities while learning about boater education and water safety. A preview of cabins, campgrounds and the fuel dock as well as The Point Restaurant and brokerage boats will be part of the festivities coupled with a complimentary lunch including hot dogs and drinks served at The Point Restaurant between 11:00 am-4pm.  

Serving as a gateway to boating, the day-long festivities will be filled with fun and information for all those sharing a passion for water. As such, Grandpappy will be putting on a demo of their Yolo Boards just off the bank near the gas dock, so anyone who wants to learn about stand-up paddle boarding is welcome to experience the fun. Plus Grandpappy will be hosting Boathouse Tours where families can experience the lake-life first hand, as well as Boat Rides with cruises on Lake Texoma. Boats will be leaving from the Grandpappy fuel dock at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
