NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On January 20, 2014, Grassi & Co. was the first of Crain's New York Business New York City top 20 accounting firms to issue a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding the development of the proposed Crowdfunding Regulations.
The thirty-five page letter responded to certain questions in the Proposed Rules that primarily apply to areas concerning accounting, attestation, oversight, ongoing reporting, disclosure and fraud. Grassi & Co. is hopeful that the SEC considers their responses when finalizing the rules on Crowdfunding.
"Crowdfunding allows more Americans the opportunity to access capital to develop and grow their businesses," says Grassi & Co. Partner, Phillip Laycock, CPA. "We are very excited to make our mark on this historical movement."
This is a significant development in expanding businesses' access to capital, and Grassi & Co. is pleased to have had the opportunity to provide their input in formulating these groundbreaking rules.
