Green Babies® Launches Sunscreen for Babies and Children That Meets FDA's New Requirements
New Products, Expanded Body Care Line Distribution to Retailers Nationwide
NEW YORK, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Original organic baby brand Green Babies announces the latest addition to its Green Babies™ body care line, a zinc oxide broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen.
The sunscreen is now available in many Whole Foods Market stores throughout the nation, select specialty retail stores and on Green Babies' website, www.greenbabies.com. The new product, developed in partnership with leading manufacturer MZB Accessories will retail for $16.99* and comes in a travel-friendly three-ounce size in two versions: unscented and lightly scented with tangerine essential oil.
As a result of the newest FDA guidelines, sunscreen labels must designate whether they're either 40 or 80-minute water resistant and sunscreen products labeled "broad spectrum" must protect against both UVA and UVB rays, which reduce the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging.
Formulated to meet these guidelines, the sunscreen contains 20 percent zinc oxide, using non-nano sized particles of zinc oxide and water resistant for up to 40 minutes, with natural pine bark resin as the water resisting agent. It is clinically tested hypo-allergenic, does not contain oxybenzone, parabens or PABA and quickly absorbs into the skin without leaving behind a chalky white residue. For the scented version, only essential oils were used to add fragrance.
"Our goal in developing all of our body care products and especially our sunscreen is to provide the highest quality in natural personal baby care, using formulations that are tender enough for baby's skin and meet our own high standards," said Green Babies founder and author of Green Babies, Sage Moms and Green Kids, Sage Families (NAL Penguin), Lynda Fassa.
Green Babies is launching a travel set in a durable PEVA and 100 percent hemp bag, featuring top selling baby body care products - Baby Me Shampoo & Wash, Calming Bubble Bath, Smooth Me Detangler and Lotion Potion Moisturizer - in travel-approved sizes, offering parents an eco-friendly alternative for body care while traveling.
All Green Babies body care products feature high-quality plant and fruit derived, vegan and certified organic ingredients that are not tested on animals and are gentle enough for the youngest family members. Every product in the line meets Whole Foods Market's Premium Body Care Standards.
