Green California Summit: California Leadership is More Important Than Ever
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The annual Green California Summit, uniquely focused on green government at California's local and state levels, comes to the Sacramento Convention Center on April 26-27, 2017. The conference comes at a time when California's aggressive efforts to align greenhouse gas reduction and economic growth have gained new significance. "We will set the stage. We'll set the example," the Governor has said. "And whatever Washington thinks they are doing, California is the future."
Path-breaking legislator Fran Pavley will be the keynote speaker in the opening session on the morning of April 26. Her most recent legislation, SB 32, was passed just prior to her retirement. It commits California to reducing emissions to 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030.
The summit advisory board is co-chaired by Government Operations Secretary, Marybel Batjer and CalEPA Secretary, Matt Rodriquez. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is the lead sponsor for the event.
The education program for the event is focused on strategies, best practices and technologies that can accelerate attainment of the state's green goals.
Pre-Summit sessions on April 25 will address vital topics, from the latest sustainability requirements in building codes and Prop 39 guidelines and best practices to the latest innovations in green fleet management.
On April 26 and 27, dozens of concurrent education sessions will address a range of topics relating to green policy and practice, from zero net energy buildings and rainwater catchment to new guidelines for organic waste recycling, codes and standards, funding for energy and water projects, water-wise building design and Zero Emission vehicles and infrastructure.
April 26, the Green Solutions Expo will feature scores of green products and services, from the latest clean vehicles to cutting-edge lighting solutions. Staff from government agencies that design and administer green programs will also be at the Expo to speak with attendees.
The Summit's annual Leadership Awards will be presented during a welcome reception in the Expo on April 25.
