Green Education Services Providing EPA Lead Certification Courses Nationwide
NEW YORK, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Education Services, a global green building education provider, is now offering the new EPA-mandated lead paint certification course for Certified Renovators. Beginning October 1, 2010, any contractor, renovator, painter, plumber, and other construction-industry professional must have this lead certification if they plan to work on residences or child-occupied facilities that were built before 1978. The fine for not getting certified and proceeding to work on these types of projects is as high as $37,500 per day.
If an individual is currently performing work that disturbs paint on any project that qualifies under these rules, they must register for a Lead Renovator Certification initial course by September 30, 2010 and complete training by December 31, 2010. Failure to register for a course can result in hefty fines and loss of potential work. Many municipalities have adapted the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) requirements as a prerequisite to working on certain types of projects.
Green Education Services' lead training and certification courses are 8 hours in length and include both the lead paint training followed by a short certification exam. Once the day of class and test are complete, the attendee has fulfilled the EPA worker requirements and is certified as an individual who can complete lead-safe work in all EPA-regulated states.
"The adverse health effects of lead dust and chips are a serious threat for both adults and children," commented Green Education Services CEO Zach Rose. "We are proud to be providing the valuable lead certification for workers across the country."
Companies, including sole-proprietorships, must also submit a separate EPA firm certification application for approval by October 1, 2010, which can be downloaded at http://www.greenedu.com/storage/epa/epa-firm-application.pdf.
Green Education Services' RRP course is now available in over 20 cities nationwide, including New York City, Washington, DC, Boston, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funding grants may be available for eligible workers located in Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Rhode Island and New York County.
