Greenberg Traurig Maher Instructed to Assist Bristol Water Before the Competition Commission

LONDON, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenberg Traurig Maher announced today that it has been retained by Bristol Water. Recently, Ofwat, the Water Services Regulation Authority, confirmed that Bristol Water had rejected its determination of the price that can be charged for water supply for the 2010-2015 period. Bristol Water is the only water company to make such a challenge. The issue will now be referred to the Competition Commission by Ofwat.

Over approximately the next six months, the Competition Commission will review Bristol Water's proposals for future pricing, and will determine new price limits. Bristol Water has retained Greenberg Traurig Maher to act as sole counsel during the Competition Commission procedure. This is the fourth Ofwat determination of price that has taken place since price controls were introduced 20 years ago. During that time, only four other full Competition Commission determinations have taken place.
