Greenway Customer Achieves Meaningful Use Incentive Funds

CARROLLTON, Ga., Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Children's Clinic of Muskogee, Okla. has qualified for maximum 2011 meaningful use funds within the Medicaid incentive pathway. Administered through the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, Children's Clinic is scheduled to receive $21,250 per its four eligible providers (EPs) Feb. 23 during day four of this year's HIMSS11 conference. Children's Clinic has secured meaningful use funding through its utilization of Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc.'s integrated electronic health record (EHR), practice management and interoperability solution PrimeSUITE®.

Children's Clinic, the nation's first pediatrics practice to qualify for meaningful use funds, is set to receive one of the country's largest meaningful use incentives thus far in 2011. Children's Clinic EPs have been utilizing PrimeSUITE's custom templating and integrated clinical, financial and administrative functions since July 2010 through an implementation facilitated by Greenway's Oklahoma-based business alliance partner R&D MedTech.

Children's Clinic provider Michael Stratton, DO, said the practice anticipated the successful receipt of incentive funds upon PrimeSUITE implementation and the understanding of the eligibility provisions of the separate Medicaid and Medicare meaningful use incentives pathways.

"We expect PrimeSUITE to qualify for ongoing stimulus funds, and we do plan to continue reporting in the future. This funding will pay for our system and maintenance, and I think this is a good use of stimulus funds," said Stratton. "PrimeSUITE has benefited our practice in many ways. Nearly a dozen states have opened individual registration programs for eligible professionals (EPs) simply adopting, implementing or upgrading certified EHRs to receive $21,250 per provider in year-one meaningful use funds. Registration for remaining states participating in the Medicaid incentives program will continue throughout 2011.

Individual EPs in the Medicaid pathway can receive up to $63,750 in incentive funds over six years. Following the declaration criteria for year-one incentives, Medicaid EPs with applicable patient volumes are only required to report meaningful use patient care criteria for 90 days in 2012 to receive maximum year-two incentives during the Stage 1 requirements of the program.

National registration for the separate Medicare incentive pathway for all EPs began Jan. 3, which in this pathway requires only the 90-day reporting period within the 2011 calendar year to receive maximum year-one incentive funds, which over five years can total $44,000 per provider within any size practice.
