Ground Breaking Winch Session Rocks Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky., May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Bull athlete Brian Grubb added his own tale to the unique history of Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, KY during Red Bull Winch Sessions in March alongside fellow wakeskaters Andrew Pastura and Ben Horan. The professional wakeskaters conquered the river and toppled challenges of scattered rocks, late-night darkness, and bats scattered overhead in the depths of a natural jewel of the Midwest.

Lost River Cave is on the National Register of Historic Places as a prehistoric and historic archaeological site. Lost River Cave was used as a Civil War camp by armies from both the North and South. The infamous outlaw Jessie James made use of the space as a hideout. From 1934 to the early 1960's, locals even used the Kentucky oasis as a nightclub retreat. Grubb is truly an innovator and pioneer in the sport of wakeskating. Based on wakeboarding, wakeskaters are pulled along the surface of the water without binding or boots, using only balance and athletic skill to keep the board beneath them.  Grubb paved the way for the younger guys such as Pastura and Horan.  The former was named wakeskater of the year in 2012 and Horan is co-owner of a wakeskate company.
