GroundWork Rides the LoToJa Classic for a Fourth Year to Power Safer Childbirth with We Care Solar

SAND CITY, Calif., Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- GroundWork will field four teams in the 44th annual LoToJa Classic, one of the longest single-day sanctioned bicycle races in the United States, in support of We Care Solar, a nonprofit that brings reliable solar power to health clinics in energy-poor regions. This is GroundWork's fourth consecutive year fundraising for We Care Solar through the race.

The race rolls out of Logan, Utah, on Saturday, September 12, sending riders across more than 200 miles of climbs to a finish at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. GroundWork's riders include CEO Ann Will and Board Member Mark Lewis of Lime Rock New Energy, alongside colleagues from across the company.

This year the campaign grows beyond GroundWork. Nextpower, SOLV Energy, and Lime Rock New Energy have joined as co-fundraisers, bringing the total to seven teams riding in support of We Care Solar.

We Care Solar equips health clinics with Solar Suitcases: compact, reliable solar power systems that provide lighting and electricity during childbirth and critical care. Each year, hundreds of thousands of women die during pregnancy and childbirth, and nearly one million newborns do not survive their first day, often from preventable complications tied to unreliable power.
