Growing Mobile Workforce to Push Brazilian Unified Communications and Collaboration Markets, Says Frost & Sullivan
Participants need to work toward converged solutions, interoperability and a simpler provider-client relationship
SAO PAULO, Feb. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Brazil's steady economy and major sporting events (2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics) have built confidence for medium- and long-term infrastructure investments. This will have a positive effect on Brazil's unified communications and collaboration (UCC) solutions market. Moreover, an expanding multinational presence is creating a range of business opportunities, including for local UCC providers.
New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.enterprise.frost.com), Reality Check on key Brazilian Unified Communications and Collaboration Markets, finds that the market earned revenues of $392.2 million in 2011 and estimates this to reach $811.6 million in 2018.

An increasingly mobile workforce and device consumerization are highlighting the importance of mobile devices in the enterprise environment. Such trends are pushing the demand for UC solutions that grant secure anywhere access to information and real-time communication.
"Heightened mobility and social networking trends in enterprise environments are empowering UC platforms as a centralized management solution for enterprise communication and collaboration," noted Frost & Sullivan ICT Industry Analyst Daniela Scalco Pineiro. "IT consumerization is motivating the uptake of UC as an appropriate platform for corporate integrated communication."
However, telecommunications infrastructure limitations are delaying UC deployments. Business decision makers are adopting a wait-and-see approach for IP-based related investments.
Brazil's large base of legacy infrastructure is also slowing down the uptake of new UC technologies due to a lack of interoperability. Moreover, complex UC portfolios and a range of providers, vendors, and solutions are making UC implementation confusing and unattractive.
"Despite these challenges, Brazil's UCC solutions market will continue to grow through partnerships that promote converged solutions, interoperability and a simpler provider-client relationship," remarked Pineiro. "The small and medium business segment is the new target and 'UC-for-all' is the strategy."
As the market adopts this approach, it will embrace more flexible, user-centric and granular solutions delivered by service-based offerings. While this will better suit client needs, integrated multi-vendor business models offering a centralised point of contact will simplify the deployment of UCC solutions and further encourage their uptake.
