GuideStar Awards Play Like A Girl! A Gold Level Non-Profit
Dallas based organization and volunteers promote girls' health and wellness in local communities to end childhood obesity in Southern states.
DALLAS, March 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Play Like A Girl! has been awarded the GuideStar Gold-level Exchange Seal, the highest level of non-profit recognition available, demonstrating the organizations dedication and commitment to transparency.
Less than 1/10 of 1% of charities in the nation are qualified for the gold participation level. GuideStar is the top clearinghouse for information pertaining to non-profits across the country. The GuideStar Exchange Program recognizes 501(c)3 non-profits for providing evidence of financial transparency.
Non-profits seeking recognition must proactively furnish GuideStar with financials to be awarded any of the three Exchange seals: Bronze, Silver or Gold. Gold-level non-profits must successfully provide significant transparency in every area of operations, including strategic planning, finance, governance, and program results. Fewer than 2,000 of the 1.5 million non-profits in the United States have received the Gold-level Exchange Seal from GuideStar.
"GuideStar holds a belief that the public wants to know the full story on a non-profit, including financials. And we are deeply rooted in the same belief in being transparent about our work, especially to our constituents," said Dr. Kimberly Clay, Founder and Executive Director of Play Like A Girl!. "As a GuideStar Exchange participant, we use their platform to share a wealth of up-to-date information about our work to our supporters and GuideStar's immense online audience of nonprofits, grantmakers, individual donors, and the media."
"Play Like A Girl! is thrilled to collaborate with GuideStar as another communication platform to share the progress of our mission as we extend our reach into more communities," added Nicole Powell, Chair of the Board of Directors of Play Like A Girl!. "We are engaged in several new exciting initiatives that directly benefit girls in Dallas, as well as other southern states like Alabama and Tennessee."
