Gundam Celebrates Iconic Milestones at New York Comic Con 2025
NYCC Panel Marks 10 Years of Iron-Blooded Orphans, Debuts New Hathaway Trailer and Key Art, and Shares What's Ahead for the Gundam Franchise
NEW YORK, Oct. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Gundam fans packed the room at New York Comic Con 2025 on October 9 for a celebration of the franchise's past, present, and future. Hosted by Jacki Jing and presented by Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc., the panel spotlighted the 10th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, revealed new key art and a trailer for Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway – The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, and offered fans an inside look at what's next for the global Gundam universe.
The panel opened with high-energy audience engagement led by Jing, including giveaways of exclusive signed items and fan-favorite lines from the series. Executive Producer Naohiro Ogata took the stage to discuss Gundam's trajectory in the global market, upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations, and the launch of the brand-new official Gundam website. Life-sized statues, interactive displays, and historical highlights from the franchise's celebrated 45th anniversary set the tone for the day.
Director Tatsuyuki Nagai was joined by Kyle McCarley, the English voice actor for Mikazuki Augus, and Yoshimasa Hosoya, the Japanese voice actor for Orga Itsuka, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans.The panel revisited the series' global impact, from its simultaneous broadcast in Japan and the United States to the personal stories shared by the cast and staff. Highlights included behind-the-scenes reflections on creating the fan-favorite Gundam Barbatos and exploring the evolution of Mikazuki Augus' character.
McCarley called to the audience directly about their favorite quintessential Gundam film elements, met with increasing cheers with each prompt. "What does everybody like most about Gundam? Is it the giant robots? Is it the politics? Is it the love triangles? Is it all of the above and more!"
The panel then shifted focus to MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe. Caleb Yen, the English voice of Hathaway Noa, joined the stage as the panel unveiled new trailer footage and key visuals. Fans received an exclusive first look at updated character designs and the creative vision behind the film.
The unveiled key visual earned cheers from the audience, recognizing the main cast of the Hathaway saga in an all-new, evocative illustration for MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe.
"Hathaway Noa was my first major protagonist role. It was really exciting getting to learn about Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway's amazing history leading up to the movie," Yen expresses on the topic of preparation for his role.
The panel concluded with a discussion about upcoming projects and the future of the Gundam brand. Ogata teased new releases, merchandise, and fan experiences, including interactive Gunpla workshops and the Gundam Base pop-up at the American Dream Mall. A final group photo with all panelists, including Nagai, Hosoya, and McCarley, capped off the event.
