'Guns Save Lives' Message Appearing in Times Square Wednesday, Says CCRKBA
BELLEVUE, Wash., May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today announced that even though its rolling billboard bearing the message "Guns Save Lives" has been prohibited from driving through New York City's Times Square, people will still get to see it, on the famed Times Square electronic billboard.

CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb announced that the message will be flashed on Wednesday, calling attention to the fact that firearms in the hands of law-abiding private citizens save lives. CCRKBA has sponsored a rolling billboard truck in several cities this spring, in reaction to a nationwide anti-gun campaign launched by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Mayors Against Illegal Guns. The CCRKBA campaign most recently was in Pittsburgh.
"We believe that the American public, and New Yorkers in particular, deserve to understand that on the average, guns save 2,191 lives and are used to thwart crimes every day," Gottlieb said. "Michael Bloomberg would have people believe only that guns are bad, even while he enjoys the benefits of armed bodyguards wherever he goes. Average citizens do not have that billionaire lifestyle luxury.
"Instead," he continued, "average citizens outside of anti-gun gulags like New York and Chicago have learned to take care of themselves. One way they do that is by exercising their right to keep and bear arms, a concept that Bloomberg has tried to impair since he took office."
The "Guns Save Lives" message has also appeared in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, Milwaukee, Washington, D.C. and Miami. At every stop, including one outside of the Los Angeles Times building, and outside of the Miami Herald building, the message has been well received. Local volunteers have helped stage events in several cities.
"Our message will not be silenced," Gottlieb said, "and on Wednesday, with people from all over the map watching at Times Square, we will have an impact. Michael Bloomberg has been trying to spread hysteria about gun rights. We're going to spread the truth."
With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (www.ccrkba.org) is one of the nation's premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.
