Guy Harvey Outpost Announces Manager's Departure

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Conservation authority, acclaimed marine artist and Chairman of Guy Harvey Outpost Resorts, Guy Harvey, announced today the resignation of Chris Pollock, director of guest services at the Bimini Big Game Club, operating under license as the company's first Guy Harvey Outpost Resort & Marina.  A veteran hotelier raised in the Bahamas, Mr. Pollock managed the Big Game Club on a part time basis last year while grooming the local staff to assume traditional hotel management roles. "In the out-islands, our corporate mission is to empower and train local staff to deliver top-of-class hotel service.  With Chris' help, the Bimini Big Game Club now has one of the best hotel staffs in the Bahamas," Harvey added.

Mark Ellert, President of Guy Harvey Outpost and the architect of the company's involvement with the Big Game Club noted, "Being away from family is hard, and with the Club's preparations for the upcoming summer complete, Chris decided it a good time to return stateside." Mr. Pollock's departure follows the close of the inaugural Billfish Invitational, held to mark the Club's first year anniversary as a Guy Harvey Outpost. "We're not sure of his long term plans, but imagine he'll take some time off to enjoy the summer, he earned his vacation," added Ellert.

"We appreciate Chris' efforts helping us open our first out-island destination," noted Dr. Harvey, a marine scientist best known for his popular Guy Harvey T-Shirts and outdoor sportswear.  Dr. Harvey co-founded Outpost with Mr. Ellert and two of his other long time associates to promote sustainable tourism.  With his legions fans in Florida and the Southeast, the company settled on converting the Bimini Big Game Club into  a Guy Harvey Outpost Resort owing to its history as the birthplace of sportfishing, its world renown diving and its convenience to Florida boaters.

"With Bimini, Chris helped us get a toe-hold into the gateway to the Bahamas. We're now looking to expand our brand elsewhere into the Bahamas," Ellert said. Having been closed for two years prior to the company's involvement, the Club reopened last summer after an extensive renovation.  The resort has 51 rooms and 65 slips.
