H2U, local employers expand access to primary care services in Las Vegas
New Agreement With Las Vegas Chamber Connects Healthcare for Thousands in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Clark County's shortage of primary care providers could soon be eased with the addition of three new access points for more than 50,000 covered employees and their dependents. The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce is partnering with H2U Health Centers for convenient primary care service delivery in the Las Vegas metro area. In addition, MGM Resorts International is working with H2U to provide urgent and acute care services to its employees.
Clark County has long been deemed a primary care health professional shortage area by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. A recent report from the University of Nevada School of Medicine placed Nevada nearly last (48 out of 50) in the nation for having an adequate physician workforce. Nurse practitioners may also provide primary care services in Nevada, but the state ranks last in the number of nurse practitioners per 100,000 population.
Health to You (H2U), a national provider of direct primary care services for employers, has 41 health clinics located across the country either on or near an employer's worksite. Three are located in Las Vegas near the Sunrise Health hospital facilities: MountainView, Southern Hills and Sunrise Medical Center.
A few weeks ago, H2U began seeing the first of MGM's employees, and the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce announced that access to H2U Health Centers is now available to Chamber members as part of the Chamber's insurance and benefit package or as a standalone benefit purchased through the Chamber.
H2U's employee health centers provide a range of primary care services through a nationwide network exclusively available through employers who contract for the service. H2U Health Centers offer employers a range of services for their employees, to include:
- Same day/next day appointments
- Primary, acute and episodic care
- Onsite dispensing of generic prescriptions
- Onsite laboratory services
- 24/7 access to care through telemedicine
"Our H2U Health Centers provide convenient, patient-centered care to employees and dependents of participating employers. Great care, easy access and an affordable, predictable price support employers' goals to reduce absenteeism and increase productivity," said Yonnie Chesley, CEO of H2U. "Employers know that access to primary care services, when needed, keeps workers healthy and reduces overall healthcare costs. We anticipate more forward-thinking employers will be watching as we expand our footprint in the region and across the country."
"We believe that direct contracting for primary care services is a great example of the kind of innovative solution that will change healthcare in the state of Nevada and set an example for the rest of the country," Chesley said.
