Habitat for Humanity of Washington, DC Partners with Taste of DC

Charity to be Exclusive Beneficiary for the Mid-Atlantic Region's Largest Culinary Festival

WASHINGTON, Oct. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Habitat for Humanity of Washington, DC (DC Habitat) has signed on to be the official beneficiary of Taste of DC 2013 on October 12 and 13. Part of the proceeds of tickets purchased at a special link – www.thetasteofdc.org/habitat -- will go to DC Habitat in support of its mission to provide affordable housing to low-income residents of our nation's capital.  DC Habitat will also feature an exhibit at the festival, where attendees may enter a raffle for prizes like a $1,000 US Airways gift card, contribute to a children's "Draw Your Dream House" mural, and more.  DC Habitat is also recruiting volunteers to support their cause at the two-day event, asking those interested in contributing their time to sign-up at http://tasteofdc.ivolunteer.com.

The Taste of DC is a weekend-long culinary and cultural festival featuring fare from more than 60 of the District's most popular restaurants and over 30 beers from around the world.  On October 12 and 13, Taste of DC will transform Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and Capitol into the Mid-Atlantic's premier culinary event, including the 3^rd annual Ben's Chili Bowl World Chili Eating Championship, a Culinary Stage featuring some of DC's finest chefs, the Beer Garden and Wine Walk and a variety of performances on the Music Stage.

The event runs from noon to 7pm on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13, on Pennsylvania Avenue between 9^th and 14^th Streets.  General admission tickets are $10 and up.  For more information, visit www.thetasteofdc.org.
