Hala Ballouz Named President 2014 TREIA Board of Directors
AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association (TREIA), the state's only all renewables trade association, has announced new leadership following its first quarter Board of Directors meeting.
Hala Ballouz, President and Owner, Electric Power Engineers, Inc., Austin, Texas was elected President of TREIA for 2014 and is the first woman to lead the organization. Hala Ballouz, P.E., B.S., M.Sc. from Texas A&M University, is a leading consultant in the Electric Power Industry since 1991 working specifically for renewable energy development. As a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and several other states and countries, Ballouz has extensive experience in renewable energy integration and design of wind, solar, biomass, as well as energy storage, with numerous relevant publications in the power industry. She is the first power engineer to study large-scale integration of renewables in Texas, simulating solutions like the recently completed transmission build out from West Texas and the Panhandle to major urban areas in the state. Her company, Electric Power Engineers has projects in 28 out of 52 states in the U.S. and in 7 countries. Hala serves as a board member of several organizations including the Association of Women in Energy (AWE), and The Wind Coalition, and is founding partner and Director of the International Institute of Geotechnics and Materials, (I-IGM). She is also an International advisor in UAE, Turkey, Kenya, Morocco and Lebanon and with the United States Trade and Development Agency.

Immediate Past President B. J. Stanbery, HelioVolt Corporation, was named President Emeritus and will serve in an Ex Officio position as an advisory member of the Executive Committee for one year.
